2014 chromebook review.

Purpose: to inform our ministry of education, that future focused learning has made a big difference to how we learn which has helped us to achieve in our learning.

WALT: write an annotated report about the learning that took place in my classroom and how the learning helped me to become a successful student.

Future focused learning.

Throughout term 1 we were learning how to use a chromebook. Our main focus was on typing faster with all our fingers and learning how Google Drive works.

During my previous years, I worked with exercise books, out of library books, pencil and pens and two class laptops. This year, I  focused on digital learning by using chromebooks and ipads. Technology such as chromebooks is a `new and improved way to learn’ rather than use a pen and exercise book. I have found out that if you use these digital devices it can help you to improve in your spelling and reading.

On our chromebooks we can access our teachers work she post onto our Room 6 Site. We have a blog that we can post our work on, for our family to see as well as the rest of our school.  We can also put our work onto our drive and go to it when ever we want because it autosaves the last thing we typed on it.  

We have google to help us with information that we choose to use. We use Sumdog, Mangahigh and other cool learning websites that can help us to improve on our maths, reading and writing. With Mangahigh and Sumdog it has got me learning more with my maths because I find the maths games fun.

I have learnt how to make movies and put it onto youtube and edit it. It was pretty hard to learn but I enjoyed the work and it was cool to see my movie when I had finished it.

We are able to share our work with our buddy’s and teachers so they can give us a helpful comments.  I can also use the read&write app to help me to edit. It is a lot easier for me to edit now because a digital voice reads my work out and I can hear my mistakes.

Throughout this year I have been an active learner because of the chromebooks. I have learnt a lot with chromebooks about blogs and different websites that can help me to become a digital citizen. Using chromebooks has helped me to achieve in reading, writing and maths.
